Bugaboo Gecko

Bugaboo GeckoThe Bugaboo Gecko is a baby stroller that truly lives up to its name. Like a Gecko it can transform itself in any environment and if you are looking for  safe stroller that can take you anywhere in style then this is it. While the most striking features is still the modern Bugaboo design, it functions as good as it looks.

The Bugaboo Gecko has 2 large inflatable wheel and 2 small swivel wheels. What makes the design so unique is the fact that the handle bar can swivel front to back to allow the larger wheels to be either in the front or at the back. This will allow you to negotiate virtually any terrain with ease. If you are in the city, have the small swivel wheels in the front and use the larger back wheels to easily hop over sidewalks. If you are on the beach, flip the handle bars and let the larger wheels in the front easily drive you through the sand. The suspension on the Gecko is superb and it will give you and your baby a smooth ride no matter how rocky the road ahead.

The seat of the Gecko is yet another great innovation comes with some very practical and unique features. Firstly, the 5 point safety harness provides maximum safety and peace of mind. It has 3 different tilt positions – sitting, reclining and lying. It also has a back pad, foot support and a seat pad (all washable). The seat can face either forward or backwards and the Gecko seat can easily convert into a bassinet.

The bassinet is safe to use for babies up to 6 months (or 20 pounds) and it includes the frame, the fabric, a base plate and an apron. It can either be fixed to the stroller or taken off and carried by hand. The Gecko seat comes with a connector accessory that allows you to attach infant car seats directly to your infant car seats. This will allow your baby to sleep undisturbed while you are jetsetting as a busy mom.

The Bugaboo Gecko truly is an all terrain stroller. It comes with a UV resistant sun canopy, a mosquito net and a rain cover so no matter where you are going, your baby stays safe and you stay comfortable not having to struggle with make shift solutions. At the end of a trip you can easily collapse your Gecko and chuck it in the back of the car. The compact design and light-weight frame makes it a breeze to handle.

While it all sounds too good to be true, the Gecko does have its downsides. Its quite expensive and you do pay a premium for the design and the “good looks”. In its class its definitely at the upper end of the price range. Some people complain about the handles being too low for tall people and that some of the plastic clips can get stuck. Overall its very robust and if you can afford to treat yourself and your baby this will be a good investment.
